Salute to Summer

Summer went by too fast. It always seems shorter than winter, but this year in particular it escaped like sand running through my palms. The beginning held the promise of returning to normal, but with news about the variant, well I don't have to tell you what happened next. Where you live it might be different, and you may or may not have seen the return of masks.

I only traveled one place, can you guess where I am from the image below 😀?

I flew to San Antonio. Wearing the mask on the plane, through the airport and back on the connecting flight and another walk through the airport left me sweaty and the back of both of my ears hurt. Despite all that, as soon as we got in our rental we started having fun. San Antonio was warm, the people were friendly and there were so many good coffee shops and places to eat.

This coffee shop was right by my hotel. It's called Revolucion.

Here's a little something I picked up at the mall. They had a Gucci beauty store at Saks.

I picked up some lipstick and got some fragrance samples. Isn't the packaging beautiful?

I bought two matte lipsticks in Peggy Taupe and They Met in Argentina. I won't bother describing them because they will vary based on your skin tone. Peggy Taupe pulled plummy pink on me, similar to Tom Ford's Pussycat. They Met in Argentina reminded me of another Tom Ford shade that looks slightly coral on me Twist of Fate. Both are great neutrals and work well under gloss.

My favorite however was the satin shade Janet Rust. It's more comfortable to wear than the mattes. It has a slight sheen and is long lasting. All three leave a stain behind.

Aside from vacations, what I enjoy about summer is wearing dresses. This gauzy (think the Rails Ellis cotton shirt) white dress was my favorite.

I'm a size 28 in jeans and I purchased a medium. It fit perfectly, but it does come to my ankles because I'm 5'3. That was fine with me because I was looking for a maxi like dress that wasn't too long. This grazes the top of my sandals. I purchased mine from Shopbop, and looking forward to buying it in black or trying a different style. You will need to wear a half slip because of how light and slightly sheer the dress is. I thought it might make the dress feely to heavy, or make me feel hot, but it turned out to be fine. If you can find a cotton slip, rather than polyester, even better.

That's all for now. In my May post I mentioned we were trying something new, and working with a social media company for 3 months. I enjoyed the break, but I'm back to managing the site and platforms. I hope to get back to a regular posting schedule soon. I have to let you in on a secret and say I'm little scared of jumping back in after such a long reprieve. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you enjoy what remains of your summer!
