This is the last of it. August is the time of year people are squeezing in vacations and weekend trips. Stores are busy with parents and kids shopping for school supplies, and groups of tanned middle school girls in shorts linger in coffee shops drinking anything but coffee.

There was no blog post for June or July, but I had the chance to visit both coasts and see the ocean. I didn't take very many photos, but life was certainly well lived and enjoyed.

I went to Portland Maine, and visited the Portland Head Lighthouse seen below.

On the way to Portland, I stopped in a few coastal towns, like Portsmouth, Wells, Ogunquit, and Kennebunkport. After a sumptuous fish and chips and Lobster roll at Mabel's Lobster Claw in Kennebunkport, we wanted to sit and see the ocean. Parking can be hard to find but we luckily stumbled upon a nice place to stop and it happened to have a nice view of the Bush compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. Notice all the flags - I think they were getting ready for 4th of July.

Summer style doesn't excite me much. I dress for comfort, and I look for practical pieces that get me out the door fast and keep me cool, because man was it humid in KC in June and July.

Summer accessories are a little more exciting - jewelry and bags, make otherwise plain or simple pieces more personal, and allow you to show your unique attitude or point of view.

These black and gold sculptural earrings go well with long dresses, jeans and a simple top, but they would look just as good in Fall as they would today.

On the top right, you can see a pair of seashell drop earrings. Seashell jewelry is the epitome of Summer to me.

I love vintage finds, and this wicker bag is another found at Bea's Designs. There is also one available in the same shape but a different color way. It's similar in shape to the Mark Cross Grace Box bags.

A few accessories are all you need in the Summer to liven up what's already in your closet.
